Belonging Runs Deep Among Physical Therapy Students, Faculty, and Staff

From supporting fellow learners through the COVID-19 pandemic to managing the Boston Marathon in honor of his mom and one of his professors, Jacob Notinger’s experience in the Health practitioner of Bodily Therapy (DPT) software exemplifies the neighborhood and connections the system promotes.

Notinger ‘20, ‘23 (CAHNR) navigated an unconventional get started to his graduate experiments finding a supportive group alongside the way. When Notinger started the DPT plan in Slide 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic had compelled courses that were generally incredibly fingers-on to a digital setting.

This previous April, Notinger ran the Boston Marathon and was sponsored by the Dana Farber Most cancers Institute, raising $10,000 for the organization.

He ran in honor of his mom, who is fighting cancer, as well as a member of his UConn “family,” professor Deborah Bubela, who is a cancer survivor. Notinger experienced his fellow DPT pupils indicator a shirt for Bubela, which he took throughout the end line.

As an undergraduate, Notinger worked intently with Devaney on research related to get the job done by kinesiology department head, Lindsay DiStefano. Notinger’s constructive undergraduate experience functioning with Devaney and other faculty and personnel encouraged him to continue to be at UConn for his graduate research.

Notinger is commencing with a clinical rotation at an outpatient facility in Massachusetts. “All our students do this [work] to help other folks and to make a variance in the entire world,” Bubela claims. “Jacob has surely shown that in several ways.”
